\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Narrative Bio (Extended CV)” tab_id=”extended-cv”][vc_column_text css=””]Born in Catania in 1974, Raffaele Iannello now lives mainly in Milan, where he works in industrial design, graphic design, communications, visual arts, and generative artificial intelligence. He is also known as Rafz (here is the meaning<\/a> of this nickname).<\/p>\n

Since his childhood, he has always been fascinated by the shape of objects and their internal mechanisms. Realizing that his passion could also become a job, he decided to study Industrial Design in the Architecture Department of Politecnico di Milano.<\/p>\n

In 1994, he began to deal professionally with the Internet. In 1996, he created the website of the famous musical group Articolo 31, the first website in Italy to make use of Macromedia Flash and Real Audio, two truly pioneering technologies at the time. He subsequently collaborated as art director with the major Italian new media agencies of the time (including SoftMedia, Alchera Group, Icon Mebialab) with which he won numerous awards for creating websites and various other digital contents for famous international brands (Bulgari, Pioneer, Chicco and others).<\/p>\n

Over the years he has collaborated with various publishing houses mainly as an art director but often also as a photographer and journalist (he is also a member of the Italian Order of Journalists).<\/p>\n

Expert in new technologies, digital culture and contemporary art, since 1999 he has written about these topics in various print magazines<\/a>. Over the years he has collaborated with Activa, Exibart, Graphicus and others. Lately he had a column in Ferro magazine and one in Fuel magazine, on both of which he monthly explored the contamination between the world of art and design with that of motorcycles, his other great lifelong passion.<\/p>\n

He has also combined these passions by engaging in the development of individual components from scratch and in the complete redesign<\/a> of entire motorcycles, blending technical expertise and creativity to innovate both aesthetically and functionally.<\/p>\n

He has developed the corporate brand identity of several startups and the graphic design of many apps for mobile devices.<\/p>\n

He has collaborated as a designer on numerous projects developed by the Robotics Laboratory of the Milan Polytechnic University, including that of a rover for lunar explorations that took part in the Lunar X Prize<\/a> competition organized by Google. In 2008, the renders made by him to illustrate the project were largely spread by the worldwide media.<\/p>\n

In the last twenty years he has mainly devoted himself to designing products, including their packaging and promo-advertising material. Through the independent studio he founded in Milan, he has collaborated with numerous international companies, while also developing his own product lines sold under his personal brand. Among his most famous products, there is undoubtedly the Voodoo \/ The Ex<\/a> knife set, introduced in 2003 and since then, in its various versions, sold in thousands of pieces every year. This product has appeared in TV shows and movies, on the cover of newspapers and magazines, in art galleries and museums of contemporary art.<\/p>\n

At the design of objects conceived for mass production, he has always flanked a research aimed at producing small limited editions (sometimes even unique pieces). Mostly handmade, these exclusive products have high-quality standards and are distributed through selected channels, always accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the author.<\/p>\n

Parallel to his work as an industrial designer and graphic designer, he has also always pursued his activity as a visual artist. Very often his two souls (that of a super-technical designer on the one hand and a visionary artist on the other) have mixed up in his projects.<\/p>\n

He has always found himself at ease both in the physical and in the digital world and his projects are proof of this because they are almost always made with a continuous interchange between the two worlds. His fully digital artworks are now available as Digital Collectibles and can also be enjoyed in immersive digital environments through Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality devices.<\/p>\n

Often his digital art works have not been confined behind a screen, but have also come to life in the real world. Among these is, for example, Heartquake<\/a>, created in 2002 with the technical support and sponsorship of Apple and Sharp.<\/p>\n

For many years, he has been experimenting with various generative Artificial Intelligence tools in the fields of design (such as furniture<\/a> or automotive) and communication (for example musical field<\/a>).<\/p>\n
