Magic Mirror
The Magic Mirror app for iPad was launched on the Apple’s App Store in April 2012 and, on the occasion of Milan Design Week, was presented to the public within a major Fuorisalone event. The same product was on display, created both in the traditional analogue version and in its innovative completely digital transposition.
Magic Mirror for iPad was created by the designer Raffaele Iannello, as well as the collection of crystal mirrors Magic Mirror which the app refers to. The concept behind both products is the same: it is an ironic and irreverent reinterpretation of the famous tale of Snow White.
The operation of the app is already very intuitive in itself, but in any case with a tap anywhere on the screen you activate the suggestions for using it to the fullest. With a long tap, a menu appears where you can choose the version of the mirror (male or female) and the language of the message (available in English, Italian, French, Spanish and German). Swipe right or left to change the background. Finally, with a double tap you can take a photo, which can end up in the device’s camera roll or be immediately shared via your social networks.
If the fairy tale witch’s magic mirror was conceived in the present day it would probably come to life on a touch-sensitive monitor. And since Snow White’s stepmother was known for her penchant for surrounding herself with exclusive items, she surely would have chosen the best tablet out there. That’s why this app was only released for iPad.
