Exposed
Hosted in the Ex-cisterna Space of the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, the exhibition “Exposed – 184 creativi per Milano” (184 creatives for Milan) was held in conjunction with the 2015 Milan Expo, the world fair dedicated to the themes of innovation and sustainable food. In this project, the photographer Marina Spironetti took portraits of 184 creative born and/or living in Milan, which included the designer Raffaele Iannello. As published even by ViviMilano, the culture section of the newspaper Corriere della Sera, the author chose people who are distinguished in the field of innovation, creativity or culture. She chose 184, or one for each day of the universal exposition, which lasted for six months. Before taking the portrait, each creative was asked to pick a word and a place which represents his or her relationship with the city. Raffaele chose the word “change”, as for him Milan represented the possibility to study and do what he had always wanted to do: become a designer. The place that he chose was the modern and contemporary art gallery Il Castello, which, at that time, represented his limited edition mirrors on display there. One of these mirrors (in the Magic Mirror series), was the real protagonist of Marina Spironetti’s photograph, where Raffaele Iannello’s image, reflected in the mirror designed by him, becomes one with the support. It was also published in the catalogue of all the portraits, accompanied by the texts that explain how they were created or what inspired them.
