Unter Waffen
Unter Waffen (Under Arms) is the title of the great exhibition held at the Museum Angewandtekunst (Museum of Applied Arts) in Frankfurt from September 10, 2016 to March 26, 2017. The exhibition was divided into two parts, one dedicated to contemporary art and one dedicated to industrial design and fashion brands.
The artists on display were Ron Amir, Michael J. Baers, Julius von Bismarck, James Bridle, Roy Brand, Ori Scialom, Keren Yeala-Golan, Marcelo Cidade, Omer Fast, Robbert&Frank Frank&Robbert, Clara Ianni, Bernard Khoury, Shinseungback Kimyonghun, Korpys / Löffler, Barbara Kruger, Ives Maes, Kris Martin, Rami Maymon, Rabih Mroué, Timo Nasseri, Neozoon, Jon Rafman, Julian Röder, Martha Rosler, Timur Si-Qin, Nedko Solakov, Sharif Waked, Ala Youni.
The designers were 5.11, Kanye West, Alpha Industries, Assad Mounser, Dafne Balatsos, Walter Van Beirendonck, Eddie Borgo, Brogamats, Defense Distributed, Dorothy, Extranight, Hasbro, Raffaele Iannello, Juan Cristobal Karich, Knucklecase, Helmut Lang, Gonçalo Mabunda, Mawi, Tobias Rehberger, Antonio Murado, Nike, Ted Noten, James Piatt, Sadak, Fannie Schiavoni, Philippe Starck, Viktor&Rolf, Peter Zizka.
Raffaele Iannello was on display with two products halfway between industrial design and contemporary art: the Voodoo / The Ex knife set and the Beretta Lamp light sculpture.
The exhibition has been accompanied by a bilingual publication entitled Ammo, which presented widely differing forms of art, advertising, design and fashion in a glossy magazine aesthetic.
