Beretta Lamp
Designed and manufactured by hand by Raffaele Iannello, Beretta Lamp is a unique luminous sculpture of its kind. It combines the sculptural aesthetics of an iconic product that everyone knows with the visceral impact of the destructive power that this same product can generate. Placed on an elegant pedestal, it captures attention and stimulates reflection on deep and complex themes.
The central element of this work is a handgun which, instead of firing bullets, gives off an intense light. This light, projected onto a wall or object, creates a surprising effect: an apparent hole from which an inexplicable flow of blood gushes, forming a characteristic stain. This metaphorical depiction, a symbol of life and death, invites the viewer to investigate the meaning of violence, oppression and human frailty.
The sculpture, made entirely in an elegant black tone, gives a sense of mystery and depth to the work. The use of the contrast between the darkness of the object and the intense light it emanates creates a visual tension that underlines the conflict between the different feelings that reside in the human soul.
Beretta Lamp is an artwork that prompts the viewer to question the social, political and emotional dynamics that permeate our world. Through the fusion of visual and symbolic elements, the artwork aims to incite deep reflection and to stimulate debate on complex but important issues of our existence.
In 2016, the artwork was exhibited for six months in an exhibition held at the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt:
It had already been exhibited to the public in 2008, in a Fuorisalone exhibition during the Milan Design Week:
