Voodoo Exhibition
Every year, in April, in conjunction with the “Salone Internazionale del Mobile” (International Furniture Fair), the Design Week takes place in Milan with hundreds of “Fuorisalone” (literally outside the Salone) events in many areas of the city. Among these, in 2006, there was the exhibition event organized by Raffaele Iannello to present the complete range of his Voodoo / The Ex knife set, launched a few months earlier.
The event took place in the flagship store Viceversa in via Durini, in the heart of Milan, a few steps from the famous Piazza San Babila. Both shop windows have been darkened to highlight the event and entice people to enter. In the space there were several sets of knive sets, many of them limited edition. There were also prototypes and some artistic works expressly conceived for the exhibition.
One of these artworks was represented by an interactive installation in which the user-user became an integral part of the work itself. The artistic installation consisted of a giant box inside which an infrared camera took up the face of the user who faced inside through a special oval-shaped slot. Then, in real time, a video projector projected the image of the face on a Voodoo/TheEx knife set specially made for the purpose, so without a knife on the head.
The installation was very successful… people lined up to try it and then smiled amused.
