Museo del Somaro
Conceived by Nello Teodori in 1999 in Perugia, in September 2018 the Museo del Somaro (Donkey Museum) moved its headquarters to a medieval palace in Gualdo Tadino. The new and articulated museum exhibition now appears as a great metaphor, a place to question and reflect on the contradictions of human existence, where real values and qualities are often overwhelmed and humiliated… as for the donkey. The Museum is a tribute to this animal, a figure that deserves, for its many qualities, to be better appreciated and represented.
In the Museo del Somaro there are both works by visual artists and contributions from exponents from the world of entertainment, literature, criticism, science and politics. Among others, the following have joined the project: Paolo Portoghesi, Ninetto Davoli, Ugo La Pietra, Karin Andersen, Enrico Bentivoglio, Anton Roca, Raffaele Iannello, Mario Volpi, Giulia Piscitelli, Roberto Giacomucci, Jack Sal, Raymond Halle, Sergio Calatroni, Lia Pantani, Ivano Vitali, Roberto Fugnanesi, Barbara Stefani, Marino Guerritore, Laura Palmieri, Mari Iodice, Gruppo Sinestetico, Elio Licata, Stefano Bonacci.
Raffaele Iannello is present with two design sketches of his famous Magic Mirrors, works through which his own image is transformed into that of a donkey.
